Day 0

Dear Daddy,

Today you left to go on your big long deployment. Although I don't understand what is going on yet, I will someday, and I know that you and mommy will tell me about how you left when I was still so teeny and how I still saw you reading books to me and smelled you and talked to you every single day. Mommy is going to do the best job she can to keep us connected while you are away, which is why she made this blog just for you.

It was so sad for you to leave, especially when I was being so fussy, but I know you have a very important job to do of keeping mommy and I safe. We are so proud of you... and we really hope this time away passes so fast. When you get sad and lonely, remember that mommy and I are back here missing you and loving you every second of every day.

I am so thankful I got so much time with you after I was born. No one can make me smile like you can, and you are the best daddy I could have ever asked for. I will miss your silly songs and your raspberries on my belly and how you always tell me I'm the most beautiful girl you've ever seen.
